Can STEMGOLD medium be used for the isolation of MSCs?
- Yes, STEMGOLD medium can be utilised for the isolation of MSCs from bone marrow, adipose, and umbilical cord tissue.
Does STEMGOLD medium need additional growth factors?
- No, the STEMGOLD medium kit includes both the Basal Medium and Growth Supplements. To prepare the complete STEMGOLD medium, Growth Supplements must be added to the Basal Medium as per the provided protocol. There’s no need to incorporate additional growth factors.
What are the storage conditions and shelf life of STEMGOLD medium?
- STEMGOLD Basal Medium and Growth Supplements have a shelf life of 12 months from the manufacturing date when stored between 2°C and 8°C for the Basal Medium and at -20°C for the Growth Supplements. Once prepared, the complete STEMGOLD Medium remains stable for up to 2 months when stored between 2°C and 8°C.
Is it necessary to precoat flasks with an attachment substrate when cultivating MSCs in STEMGOLD medium?
- No, there’s no need to precoat flasks with any attachment substrate when culturing MSCs using STEMGOLD medium.
Can antibiotics be added to the complete STEMGOLD medium?
- Yes, you have the option to add antibiotics to the complete STEMGOLD medium if desired.
What is the recommended method for transitioning from another medium to STEMGOLD medium?
- We advise following the protocol to thaw your cell stock using STEMGOLD medium for a seamless transition.
How many passages are recommended for culturing MSCs using STEMGOLD medium?
- MSCs can be cultured for up to approximately 20 passages in STEMGOLD medium. However, for optimal performance and characteristics aligned with your research objectives, it is recommended to utilise MSCs at passages that exhibit desirable phenotypes and functions.
What is the doubling time of MSCs when cultured in STEMGOLD Medium, and what is the typical cell yield for 80% confluency in a T-75 tissue culture-treated flask?
- The doubling time and yield for MSCs are highly dependent on the donor type and the culture condition. Based on our in-house study, the doubling time for MSCs cultured in STEMGOLD Medium is less than 30 hours over a span of 10 passages, with an approximate yield of 4 to 5 x 106 cells (80% confluency) in a T-75 tissue culture-treated flask.
