Softwell® Hydrogel/Collagen/Non-Activated Coated Plates: A Breakthrough for Cancer Research

Extracellular matrix (ECM) coated plates are cell culture plates that are coated with a natural or synthetic ECM. ECM proteins provide a structural scaffold for cells and can also signal to cells to promote growth, differentiation, and survival. ECM-coated plates are often used for studying cell-matrix interactions and for culturing primary cells.

In the field of cancer research, understanding and manipulating cell behavior is crucial for developing effective therapies. Conventional tissue culture plastic, with its rigid surface, often fails to mimic the natural environment of cells, leading to inaccurate representations of their behavior in vivo. This is where Softwell® Hydrogel/Collagen/Non-Activated Coated Plates emerge as a game-changer.

Softwell® plates have been shown to promote enhanced cell attachment, spreading, and differentiation. This is particularly beneficial for stem cells, where the soft environment promotes self-renewal and maintains pluripotency, enabling researchers to study stem cell differentiation pathways more effectively.

Softwell® plates offer remarkable control over matrix stiffness, allowing researchers to fine-tune the elasticity of their cell culture environment. This flexibility has been instrumental in uncovering new insights into the role of matrix stiffness in various cellular processes, leading to significant advances in cancer research.

Softwell® plates feature uniform flatness across the entire working surface, ensuring consistent cell growth and behavior. Additionally, they are individually packaged in foil packs, providing optimal protection.

Collagen-coated cell culture plates

These plates are coated with a thin layer of collagen, which provides a more natural environment for cells to grow on. This can be especially beneficial for cells that are sensitive to the rigid surface of traditional plastic culture dishes. Collagen-coated plates are also useful for studying cell adhesion and migration.
