Optimised Kit for Total RNA (mRNA + miRNA) Extraction from Purified EVs

The ExoBrite™ EV Total RNA Isolation Kit is designed for efficient extraction of total RNA, including mRNA and miRNA, from purified extracellular vesicles (EVs).

EV samples often yield low RNA quantities due to their dilute nature and small RNA cargo. This kit overcomes those challenges with an easy-to-use, column-based method that avoids phenol/chloroform and ethanol precipitation steps. The result is high-quality RNA, suitable for downstream applications such as qPCR or RNAseq.

Validated to recover ~10–20 ng of RNA from 1×10¹⁰ SEC-enriched EVs, this kit ensures reliable preparation of both long and short RNA species, including non-coding RNAs like miRNAs, which are critical for biomarker discovery and EV research.

The protocol is simple, taking as little as 20 minutes, with an optional DNase treatment step to remove contaminating DNA for cleaner results.

Proven Performance

The ExoBrite™ EV Total RNA Isolation Kit was used to extract RNA from 6 x 10^10 EVs (derived from Jurkat cells, isolated by SEC) and a total yield of 100 ng RNA was obtained. 10 ng of the EV RNA was analyzed by gel electrophoresis using the EMBER™ Ultra RNA Gel Kit with a 1.5% gel. The gel was imaged using the Gel-Bright™ Laser Diode Gel Imager. L = Low Range ssRNA Ladder (NEB).
