This active extract is produced from green microalgae Dunaliella Salina. This unique alga grows in the Dead Sea, synthesizing many compounds to help it cope with its extreme environment. The lack of cell walls gives Dunaliella Salina the ability to expand and shrink according to the changing salt concentration. High concentrations of carotenoids help it fight oxidative stress, and UV absorbing pigments help the algae prevent UV damage to its DNA. All these benefits, that mitigate the hazards to the algae’s “health”, can also be applied to human skin and nourish it.
