Atlantis Bioscience and Department of Pharmacy Host Exoid Workshop to Advance Nanoparticle Characterisation

Singapore, 16 October 2025 — Atlantis Bioscience, in collaboration with the Department of Pharmacy and Pharmaceutical Sciences, and Izon Science, successfully hosted the Exoid Workshop, introducing the latest advancement in nanoparticle characterisation powered by Tunable Resistive Pulse Sensing (TRPS).

The NUS Department of Pharmacy and Pharmaceutical Sciences, part of the Faculty of Science, is Singapore’s only institution offering a professional degree in Pharmacy. Recognised among the top 20 globally and number one in Asia in the QS World University Rankings by Subject (Pharmacy and Pharmacology), the department continues to play a leading role in shaping the region’s pharmaceutical and translational research landscape.

This workshop marked another milestone in strengthening Singapore’s translational research ecosystem, empowering scientists to obtain high-resolution, quantitative insights into extracellular vesicles (EVs) and other nanoscale particles vital for diagnostics, therapeutics, and environmental applications.

Expanding the Frontiers of Nanoparticle Characterisation

The event brought together scientists from NUS, A*STAR, the National Environment Agency (NEA), the National Neuroscience Institute (NNI), and several industry partners, reflecting a growing interest in advanced nanoparticle analysis across diverse research disciplines.

We were excited to bring the Exoid to the BioNanoTechnology research group, whose work focuses on cell-derived nanovesicles (CDNs), which mimic natural EVs and offer higher production yields with potential applications in tissue regeneration and inflammation reduction.

Led by Dr Haoyu Xiong, Regional Manager of Izon Science, the seminar provided in-depth insights and case studies on TRPS and the Exoid platform, demonstrating how single-particle measurements deliver accuracy and reproducibility beyond conventional techniques such as Nanoparticle Tracking Analysis (NTA) and Dynamic Light Scattering (DLS).

Key Advantages of the Izon Exoid

  • Single-particle resolution for true number-based data accuracy
  • Quantitative measurement of size, concentration, and zeta potential in one instrument at one time
  • Superior reproducibility aligned with MISEV2023 recommendations
  • Wide analysis range (40 nm–11 μm) covering EVs, LNPs, VLPs, nanobubbles, and nanoplastics
  • User-friendly interface with automated data processing and intuitive visualisation

The live demonstration at NUS Faculty of Science highlighted Exoid’s proven usability across multiple disciplines, including drug delivery, neuroscience, nanoplastics research, cancer therapeutics, and environmental sustainability.

“Through this collaboration, we aim to make high-resolution nanoparticle characterisation more accessible to researchers across Southeast Asia, enabling discoveries that drive translational medicine forward,” said Daniel Toh, Director of Atlantis Bioscience.

Building a Collaborative Biomedical Ecosystem

At Atlantis Bioscience, we are committed to bridging bench to bedside by fostering partnerships that drive scientific excellence. Through collaborations with Izon Science, Biotium, Biowest, Kohjin Bio, and AgemBio, we continue to deliver end-to-end EV and nanoparticle workflow solutions — from sample preparation and fluorescent staining to high-resolution characterisation and data interpretation.

Dr Ching Yi Ong, Business Development Executive at Atlantis Bioscience, introduced how we translate from bench to bedside during the seminar.
STEMGOLD, CryoEase-PF, and Biowest reagents work hand-in-hand with the Exoid to ensure reliable nanoparticle analysis and reproducible results.

Our ecosystem approach supports researchers, clinicians, and spin-off teams in advancing translational outcomes for clinical and veterinary applications, accelerating progress towards the next level of technology readiness by empowering the scientific community with the right tools and knowledge.

We sincerely thank everyone who joined us in making this Izon Exoid Workshop & Demo a resounding success, and for sharing in our mission to drive innovation in EV and nanoparticle research.
Together, we look forward to accelerating scientific discovery and translating it into real-world impact for patients and society.
